Value of Community Center in our Communities

August 24, 2020 / 13 / 0

Community centers are a place where communities come together and play a huge role to help each other. In cities like NYC with a diverse range of people, the value of community centers is significant for our communities.

The community centers in New York City require emergency, intensive and critical care units to help everyone in need. These centers have been designed to help connect the youth to the nature, bring sustainability and provide a bridge for the entire community.

Assistance to Health Facilities for Everyone

The emergency centers need to have equipment in order to provide assistance to anyone who needs fist aid or has a heart attack, asthma, epilepsy, diabetes, Alzheimer or stroke. Community centers provide free or low priced health facilities to everyone, and even the homeless.

Invaluable

The services provided by community centers are invaluable and they help a society grow. The community center offers a place for the entire community to work towards common interest such as getting the youth involved in the community and help the less fortunate.

 Ideal for Teens

In this age of instant gratification, it has become harder for parents to raise kids or teens who are responsible and have critical skills, which is why working at a community center for teens is ideal and it would look great on their college application as well.

Group Activities

Community centers are a great place for teens and just about everyone to participate in all sorts of group activities such as social support or other activities. These centers can either be religious in nature such as bringing together Muslims, Christians, Jews and others under one roof to work together and increase awareness about the other’s religions, or be a secular one.

Other groups include youth clubs which are perfect for making new friends and get ridding of antisocial behavior.

Far Rockaway

The community center at Far Rockaway offers many services to the community and performs various functions. The following functions are served:

  • Place for celebration of occasions and traditions.
  • Public meetings to discuss various issues.
  • Politicians can meet ordinary citizens to discuss critical issues.
  •  Meeting place for community members.
  • Volunteer activities
  • Provide cheap rentals.
  • For NGO activities such as fund-raising.

Run by the Community

One of the best things about a community center is the fact that it is directly owned and run the local community. Local governments often provide funding for the community centers and can even be sponsored by a wealthy individual who cares about a critical issue such as the Khanum Institute for cancer in Pakistan.

Role of Schools as Community Centers

Schools play a huge role in community building and that is why it is important for schools to play their part in forming community centers early on to help kids and their families to connect with other families and the community as a whole. Involving kids early on in the community center is a great idea.
